Hey all!
I just wanted to give a quick update on what I'm doing with wrmhole
.
Not sure what I'm talking about? Wrmhole was a project management software that I envisioned in my recent article A critique on project management software.
Since I'm trying to build this product in public, I wanted to provide some stats on that article and what I plan to do next.
- It made it to the front page of HackerNews
- Thoughtful conversations on /r/programming
- 15k+ people read my blog article
- 90+ comments between HN and reddit
- 86 people submitted their email to receive updates about the product
Below is a chart of the number of unique visitors that went to my blog over the course of that hn post:
31/Aug/2021 : 325 |# 0.6%
01/Sep/2021 : 1924 |####### 3.5%
02/Sep/2021 : 1615 |###### 3.0%
03/Sep/2021 : 11086 |############################################ 20.4%
04/Sep/2021 : 4437 |################# 8.1%
05/Sep/2021 : 1304 |##### 2.4%
06/Sep/2021 : 820 |### 1.5%
07/Sep/2021 : 633 |## 1.2%
08/Sep/2021 : 543 |## 1.0%
Overall this article was a huge success and it has shown me there is enough interest in wrmhole to pursue actually building it. It is also an incredibly motivating feeling knowing almost 100 people read about my product idea and thought it was interesting enough to receive updates. I'm extremely excited to get this into their hands!
I've decided to take the figma designs I showcased in the blog and build an initial, front-end only prototype to illustrate how the product could work. There will be no backend API and therefore no persistence to a database. The idea is to get to a point where people can interact with the product and provide meaningful feedback on what they think works, what doesn't and what direction they should it should go.
As of right now I have the codebase setup and built the layout for the app. I also created the ability to have an infinitely nestable list of circles that the user can navigate to. The video below illustrates where I'm at with the prototype.

Your browser does not support the video tag. {{}}I plan to be relatively quiet on the email list because I only want to use it when I'm ready to receive meaningful feedback.
I also set up an RSS feed specifically for this product so people can use it to receive updates that way.
That's it for now, thanks for your support!
